LONDON – Evolution has agreed to pay a £4.75 million ($6.38 million) settlement to the UK Gambling Commission after a license review found the company’s gaming content appeared on unlicensed websites serving British customers.

The settlement, announced July 15, resolves a regulatory review launched in December 2024, when the commission discovered Evolution products on six sites operated by two companies that were not licensed to offer gambling services in the UK. Regulations prohibit approved suppliers from providing content to unregulated operators.

The commission said that over the 18‑month review period it found no evidence of a broader pattern of unauthorized access to Evolution’s games. Evolution said it cooperated fully with regulators and terminated its relationships with the two operators immediately after the breach was identified.

The company said it continues to strengthen technical, legal and commercial safeguards to prevent its content from appearing on unlicensed platforms. While acknowledging that “no system can entirely eliminate attempts by third parties to circumvent controls,” Evolution said it remains committed to investing in compliance and working closely with regulators.

Chief executive Martin Carlesund said the company “always strives to do what is right” and agreed that the appearance of Evolution content on unlicensed UK sites was unacceptable.

“We do not want traffic from unlicensed operators and will always move quickly to address any such situation,” Carlesund said. “We welcome the conclusion of the review and remain focused on supplying our world‑leading games to licensed operators in the UK.”

Separately, a court recently rejected Evolution’s attempt to add Playtech as a defendant in a high‑profile defamation lawsuit tied to a report the company says damaged its reputation.
