LONDON – The UK Gambling Commission said it will part ways with Tim Miller, its executive director of policy and research, ending his decade‑long tenure with the regulator. Miller will step down in September 2026 and plans to take a role outside the gambling sector.
Miller joined the commission in 2016 and played a central role in expanding its research and evidence base. He oversaw the development and launch of the Gambling Survey for Great Britain, the first study of its kind in the UK and one of the most comprehensive gambling behavior surveys globally.
He also helped implement measures outlined in the government’s Gambling Act Review White Paper, including new protections aimed at reducing gambling harm.
The commission said it will outline interim arrangements for Miller’s responsibilities at a later date.
Miller called his decade at the regulator the longest and most fulfilling stretch of his career.
“In large part, this has been due to the amazing and dedicated colleagues that I’ve had the pleasure to work alongside,” he said in a statement. “That’s what made it a hard decision to leave, but after ten years, I felt ready for the next challenge.”
UKGC acting chief executive Sarah Gardner thanked Miller for his service.
“Tim has provided outstanding service to the Commission for ten years,” Gardner said. “I would like to thank Tim for his significant contribution to gambling regulation and wish him every success in the future.”
Earlier this month, the commission fined Stakelogic for offering slot games that exceeded permitted spin speeds.
