TORONTO – The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has chosen Intralot Canada Ltd., a subsidiary of Bally’s Intralot Group, to modernize the province’s lottery technology platform following a competitive procurement process.
The agreement marks a significant upgrade to OLG’s aging lottery systems. The corporation said the new platform will make it easier to launch new games, improve customer experience and strengthen the technology that supports Ontario’s lottery operations. The system is expected to go live in 2029.
“We’re excited to work together to bring customers even more engaging lottery experiences,” OLG President and CEO Duncan Hannay said in a statement. “This investment will position us for future growth, modernize legacy systems, and strengthen our ability to give back to the people and communities of Ontario.”
OLG said lottery players will not see immediate changes while the new system is built. Current games — including LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49, LOTTARIO and DAILY GRAND — will continue to operate on existing platforms.
Intralot Group, which provides lottery and gaming technology in 40 jurisdictions worldwide, said its systems are designed to meet the scale, security and complexity requirements of modern lottery operations.
“Our platforms are built to handle the complexity, scale and security demands of modern lottery operations,” said Robeson Reeves, CEO of Bally’s Intralot Group. “We are committed to giving OLG the tools, data intelligence and technical foundation it needs to lead.”
OLG currently lists 16 lottery games on its website, not including PROLINE sports betting or digital casino offerings.
The corporation recently updated LOTTO MAX, raising the jackpot cap from $80 million to $90 million and adding a new $25 million MAXPLUS prize tier. MAXPLUS awards additional $100,000 prizes tied to the size of the main jackpot — from 10 extra prizes at a $10 million jackpot to 90 extra prizes when the jackpot reaches $90 million.
