Kennedy is batting .321 in 48 games with Triple-A Sacramento this season

SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the Mariners have acquired INF Buddy Kennedy from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash considerations.

Kennedy, 27, has appeared in 7 Major League games for the Giants this season. In 48 games with Triple-A Sacramento, he is batting .321 (59×184) with 15 doubles, 1 triple, 8 home runs, 33 RBI, 27 walks and 5 stolen bases, reaching base at a 424 clip and slugging .543 for a .967 OPS.

The 5-foot-10, 210-pound right-handed hitting infielder has appeared in parts of 5 Major League seasons with the Diamondbacks (2022-23), Tigers (2024), Phillies (2024), Blue Jays (2025), Dodgers (2025) and Giants (2025-26). In 189 career Major League plate appearances, he is batting .171 (28×164) with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, 20 RBI and 19 walks.

Kennedy was originally drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 5th round of the 2017 MLB First Year Player Draft out of Millville Senior High School (Millville, NJ), the same high school as three-time MVP outfielder Mike Trout-LAA. He is the grandson of former Major League infielder Don Money, who played 16 Major League seasons between the Phillies (1968-72) and Brewers (1973-83).
