Club Recalls INF Anthony Seigler from Triple-A Worcester
BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today placed infielder/outfielder Nick Sogard on the 10-Day Injured List (retroactive to May 31) with a right oblique strain. To fill his spot, Boston recalled infielder Anthony Seigler from Triple-A Worcester.
Sogard, 28, has played in 12 games for Boston this season, batting .257 (9-for-35) with two doubles, a triple, two RBI, and a .721 OPS while making six starts at second base, four at third base, and one at shortstop. The switch-hitter has also played in 36 games for Worcester this season, batting .269 (35-for-130) with nine doubles, five home runs, 23 RBI, and an .871 OPS. Originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 12th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has batted .264 (55-for-208) in 73 career Major League games, all with the Red Sox (2024-25), making 25 starts at second base, 13 at third base, 11 at first base, seven at shortstop, and two in right field.
Seigler, 26, has hit .298 (31-for-104) with seven doubles, a triple, three home runs, 21 RBI, and an .896 OPS in 30 games with Worcester this season, starting 17 games at third base, 10 at second base, and three as the designated hitter. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the first round (No. 23 overall) of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Arizona native made his Major League debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2025, playing in 34 games and making 16 starts at third base and one as the designated hitter. A left-handed hitter and ambidextrous thrower, he was acquired by the Red Sox in a trade on February 9, 2026.
