BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana’s gaming industry recorded strong year‑over‑year growth in April, buoyed by higher casino revenue following the state’s decision to allow riverboat casinos to move inland.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board reported total gaming revenue of $223.9 million for the month, an 11.3% increase from April 2025.

Riverboats and New Orleans Casino Lead the Surge

Riverboat casinos generated $168.7 million in April, up from $151.8 million a year earlier. L’Auberge Lake Charles was the top performer, posting $29.2 million in revenue. Golden Nugget Lake Charles followed with $25.4 million, and Treasure Chest rounded out the top three at $15 million.

Several other properties surpassed the $10 million mark:

  • Margaritaville: $14.6 million
  • L’Auberge Baton Rouge: $13.9 million
  • Live! Casino: $12.1 million
  • Horseshoe Bossier City: $10.7 million

Caesars New Orleans — the state’s only land‑based casino — reported $27.5 million in revenue, up from $22.5 million in April 2025.

Sports Betting Revenue Climbs Sharply

Sports wagering also posted notable gains. Total sports betting revenue reached $48.6 million, driven largely by mobile wagering:

  • Mobile net proceeds: $42.8 million (up 14.8% year‑over‑year)
  • Retail net proceeds: $2.7 million (up 134.6%)

Daily fantasy sports was the lone segment to decline, generating $71,814, down 12.3% from last year.

Video Gaming, Racetrack Slots Also Improve

Additional highlights from the April report include:

  • Video gaming devices: $70.1 million, up 7.4%
  • Racetrack slot machines: $27.7 million, up 3.1%

Last month, Louisiana lawmakers opted not to ban proposition bets after determining such a move could significantly harm the state’s gaming economy.
