MBB-FCS: East Tennessee State Buccaneers (9-15) at Samford Bulldogs (15-9)

The ETSU men’s basketball team will look to remain unbeaten in the month of February as the Buccaneers make the trip down to Alabama and take on league-leading Samford Saturday afternoon inside Pete Hanna Center. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET.

ABOUT THE BUCS

·         ETSU enters weekend play at 9-15 overall and 5-6 in SoCon play

·         The Bucs snapped their eight-game home losing streak with a 77-52 win over Wofford on Wednesday night

·         ETSU shot 62 percent from the field (32-52) over the Terriers, marking the Bucs’ highest shooting percentage since posting a .625 clip (35-56) in a win at UT-Martin on Nov. 9, 2019 … In addition, it was just the 15th time since 2010-11 where ETSU shot over 60 percent from the field

·         The 25-point win over the Terriers was the second-largest in series history behind ETSU’s 29-point on Dec. 4, 1993 (106-77)

·         Jalen Haynes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and Jordan King (Albany, N.Y.) each scored 22 points on Wednesday night

·         Haynes, who made his first 10 shots, finished 10-of-11 from the field (.909), resulting in the third-highest field goal percentage by a Buccaneer player with a minimum of 10 attempts

·         Haynes is just one of 27 NCAA Division I players this season to shoot over 90 percent from the field on 10 made field goals this season

·         ETSU is 4-1 on the road in SoCon play

·         The Bucs are now 8-3 this season when having a better field goal percentage than their opponent and 5-2 when shooting over 50 percent

·         The Bucs are coming off a 73-64 setback against Chattanooga on Saturday inside Freedom Hall

·         ETSU has made at least one three-pointer in 1,116 straight games – the fourth-longest streak in the country

  • Samford is tied atop the league standings as they sit 15-9 overall and 9-2 in conference play
  • The Bulldogs snapped a two-game losing skid with an 85-77 win at Western Carolina on Wednesday night
  • Logan Dye led the Bulldogs with 24 points and seven rebounds, while A.J. Staton-McCray posted a double-double (18 points/10 rebounds)
  • Ques Glover, who has returned to the court over the last two games, is averaging 15.2 points, while Dye is averaging 14.3 points and 5.5 rebounds
  • Jermaine Marshall leads the team in rebounding (6.7) and total steals (24), while adding 11.4 points per contest
  • As a team, Samford is averaging 78.5 points per game and allowing 71.2
